What's this about...

This newsletter is intended to bring interested people up-to-date about our www.walkinginsunlight.com website.  It will be our intent to send out this newsletter once a month with the following information.  We hope that you will find the material on this website to be useful in your efforts to influence our young people in obtaining and maintaining their own faith!  Take a look around the website ... see what you think ... and share your comments with us as well as passing this website on to others you think might be interested.

A Personal Note From The Editor

The progress of producing new material for this website has not stopped, but it has been slowed this year due to the constraints placed on me by my battle with Hepatitis C!  I have completed a little over 8 months of a projected 12 month  treatment plan for this terrible disease.  The treatment has been suspended for the next several months to allow my body to recuperate and rest, so that we can complete the treatment plan.  I will be writing as much as the Lord will allow and intend to take full advantage of this respite to catch up on some of my writing.

As always, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers on my behalf and for the ongoing financial support of this work.

Featured Literature...

Character:  The Most Important Thing ... Life can be challenging … temptation enticing … hardship overwhelming!  And when these situations begin to squeeze us … to even offer to us the opportunity to compromise … it is our own character … that which is really inside our hearts … that must enable us to stand up for what is right … and to stand up against what is wrong!  In this series of studies … learning what character is all about will be established!  There are several pillars of strength that are mixed and poured into our hearts based on the foundational truths of God’s Word!  The acquisition of these pillars will give our young people the strength of character they need to live right before God!

Upcoming Literature...

Building The House Of Your Life … This series of studies is based on the familiar parable of the Wise and Foolish Builders recorded in Matthew 7:24-27.  Jesus was telling those who would be His disciples of the very real need to build the house of their lives on the teachings and will of God!  Everyone in life, both young and older, must either choose from a number of philosophies in life  the world offers or make the choice to choose God’s way, with awareness of the certain outcome of the choice we make.  Building the house of our life upon His teachings will enable us to construct the house of our lives on the foundation that will last!  These lessons will enable our young people to find stability when life becomes difficult, disappointing and hopeless.

Letting The Beauty of Jesus Be Seen In Me ... This series of studies only touches the hem of the garment regarding the perfect life and nature of Jesus Christ!  Found in this study will be lessons magnifying the wonderful attributes of His character along with questions and applications to help the student not only want to become more like Christ ... but show them it is possible and how to accomplish this most important goal of “being conformed to the image of Christ” (Romans 8:29).  The material in this series of studies is suitable for both one or two quarters of study.

Note:  We are in the process of proofing the final text and will have this exciting and challenging series of studies available on the website shortly.

Teaching Tips...

Desperate times call for desperate measures and those times are now!  We seem to be losing our young people at an alarming rate.  The world may be winning the battles, but with the Lord on our side … we can win the war!  The teaching of our young people  requires that we become enthusiastic about God, about His Word, and about our relationship with the Lord!  You cannot give away what you do not possess yourself.  The apostle Paul encouraged Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:1,2,  “You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.  And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

 Timely Quotes...

Found in this section of our newsletter will be quotes from our own literature and relevant quotes from other resources as well, that will cause thought, reflection and interest.

Did you know we're at war?

Questions:     Whose soldier are you?

Did you even know there is a war going on?

Whose side are you on?

Have you already surrendered or been taken as a prisoner of war?

When it comes to following Jesus, our Commander-in-Chief, it is impossible to be neutral.  "He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with me scatters abroad." Matthew 12:30

Glad You Asked That...  This will be a brief section where we will post questions that folks have asked regarding teaching young people and hopefully offer some good answers and helpful solutions.
